Marconi Union
'Distance'
Reviews
"Fans of Mogwai's celestial peaks or Labradford's weightless drift would do well to investigate this fine album by a publicity-shy pair. A sleek response to their 2003 debut, Under Wires and Searchlights, Distances's seven instrumental pieces unfold slowly, gracefully. Sleepless and These European cities suggest Boards Of Canada fleshed out by Basic Channel, while Buildings and people could be Tortoise burnished by Brian Eno, whose back catalogue Marconi Union have recently reworked. You can see why: like Eno, These guys are master manipulators." Piers Martin, Uncut (****).
"When your label mates include Eno and Budd you certainly have a lot to live up to, not that you suspect Marconi Union care. This is one to truly enjoy in your own space and time, preferably with the lights switched off". John Andrews, Future Music.
"Ambient Atmosphere Soundscapes are their stock in trade, and again this is another album worth listening to on the headphones. This is a superb piece of atmospheric rock.Wonderful" James Turner, Classic Rock Society.
